For the platform digital.global, I designed an interactive carousel that highlights people and ideas behind international development projects. The goal was to create a prominent visual entry point that brings human stories to the foreground and makes them easily accessible.

Context
digital.global is a platform initiated by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It focuses on how digital tools and innovations can drive progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. A key part of the platform is the Stories section, where selected individuals and initiatives are introduced through personal narratives and project snapshots.

Design Approach
To support this content, I developed a central carousel that visually highlights the faces behind these initiatives. The layout focuses on strong portrait photography combined with short teaser texts and a clear call-to-action button. Each story tile is designed to be concise, inviting users to dive deeper without overwhelming them with information up front.
When a story is clicked, a full-screen overlay opens as a one-pager. This view presents the selected project in more detail, including photos, videos, quotes, and contextual information. The overlay format ensures a focused reading experience without navigating away from the main site.
The design follows the existing visual system of digital.global, using IBM Plex Sans, the brand’s color palette, and consistent visual patterns. The carousel is placed prominently on the homepage to signal the importance of storytelling within the broader platform.
